Injuries continue to challenge several MLB teams as they make their final push toward the postseason. Here’s a comprehensive breakdown of the latest updates on significant player injuries across the league.
Lindor remains out with back tightness for the seventh consecutive game. Senga’s season is over due to right triceps tightness experienced in a rehab start, despite the pitcher downplaying the severity.
Alvarez exited Sunday’s game with a right knee contusion. McCormick is recovering from a fractured hand but may resume batting soon. Scott was placed on the IL with a thoracic spine strain.
Moreno left Sunday’s game with left adductor tightness, the same injury that sidelined him in August. Kelly left his last start with a right calf cramp.
Muncy was scratched due to general soreness. Gonsolin, recovering from Tommy John surgery, made his third rehab start, and his return is yet to be determined.
Devers is out for the season with shoulder inflammation but won’t require surgery. O’Neill missed Sunday’s game with back tightness, and Refsnyder is done for the year due to a forearm strain.
Scherzer’s season ended with a hamstring strain. Jung is managing discomfort near his wrist surgery site and is hopeful for a return during the final road trip.
Hays, recovering from a kidney infection, may return next week. Turnbull made a rehab appearance, pitching two innings.
Rodriguez continues rehab from a lat strain but hasn’t faced live hitters. Mountcastle is on a rehab assignment after a wrist sprain.
Kim resumed throwing but continues to deal with shoulder discomfort. Brito was placed on the 60-day IL with an elbow strain, with his 2025 season in question.
Hayes won’t return in 2024 due to lingering back inflammation.
Kwan could return from mid-back tightness on Tuesday, pending recovery.
Gray’s season is over due to forearm tendinitis.
Gausman left his last start with back tightness but expects to return soon. Wagner underwent a knee scope but should be ready for 2025.
Williamson will undergo Tommy John surgery after tearing his UCL. Abbott is out for the year with a shoulder strain.
Hicks (shoulder inflammation) and Ray (hamstring strain) will miss the remainder of the season.
