Sacramento Kings guard Kevin Huerter will undergo left shoulder surgery and miss the remainder of the regular season and playoffs.
Huerter suffered a dislocated shoulder with labrum damage in mid-March and opted for surgery after receiving multiple opinions on his injured shoulder.
The injury leaves Sacramento down a key perimeter scoring option. The 25-year-old Maryland alumnus averaged 10.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 64 games this season white shooting 44.3% from the field and 36.1 from 3-point range.
He should make a full recovery in time for the start of next season.
In the meantime, the Kings will likely rely more heavily on a combination of Keon Ellis and Chris Duarte to make up for Huerter’s absence.
As of Friday morning, the Kings (42-30) sit in 8th place, a half game behind the Phoenix Suns and 1.5 games ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers.
