Warriors' guard Klay Thompson will miss Sunday's primetime matchup with the Mavericks because of general illness, head coach Steve Kerr said before the game.
Thompson missed Saturday's practice with the illness, but Kerr said he is hopeful Thompson can join the team on their challenging upcoming 4-game road trip that will take the No. 2 seed to Minnesota, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Denver.
Unlike in the NFL, illnesses in the NBA can be a big deal and more difficult to function with, as the up-and-down motion is hard to play through.
For someone like Thompson, who is still finding his footing 17 games back from a 2-and-a-half year absence, any extra hurdles to play will not be taken lightly.
In his absence, guards Jordan Poole and Damion Lee should see more shots and Gary Payton II will likely spend more time on the floor as a key defensive piece.
After a 29-7 start, the Warriors have gone 14-10 since Jan. 5, most of which has been played without Draymond Green and Andre Iguodala.
The Warriors play again on Tuesday against the Timeberwolves.
