The former Vikings tight end had agreed to a free agent contract with the Giants, but did not immediately pass the physical. Remember, no contract is final until the physical is completed. Kyle Rudolph missed Week 14, 15 and 16 for the Vikings before being placed on IR due to a unspecified foot issue. It's rumored that he may need surgery for said foot issue. The most likely indication here is a fifth metatarsal stress fracture, otherwise known as a Jones fracture, which requires surgery. This allows him to be healed well before the season. The likely outcome is that the Giants and Rudolph will agree to a contingent contract, where he gets his money, assuming he passes the physical after his surgery. Given that this offseason likely will not have any in-person workouts, the foot issue is a small risk to the deal and he should still be a Giant in 2021.
