Kyler Murray, the Cardinals star quarterback, suffered a left ankle eversion sprain on the final series of the Thursday night 24-21 loss to the Packers. By video, the 24-year-old had his left leg rolled up on by cornerback Rasul Douglas on a first down run with just over one minute left in the game. We believe Murray suffered an eversion sprain and seemed to avoid a high ankle sprain because his left leg wasn't planted. The eversion sprain is similar, but not as severe as a high ankle sprain. The third-year quarterback was seen limping after the play, but remained in the game. The injury was evident on the last play of the game, when Murray did not step into the throw and was intercepted by Rasul Douglas, in large part because wide receiver A.J. Green was not looking for the ball.
Murray's mobility will obviously be affected going forward. His return to play and practice will depend on overnight swelling, but he does get the benefit of three extra days rest before playing the 49ers in Week 9.
