Mercurial star Kyrie Irving will make his first home start for the Nets this Sunday against the Hornets after Mayor Eric Adams implemented an exemption for the New York City vaccine mandate.
Irving has played in 20 games for the Nets this season, and only 94 across his 3 seasons in Brooklyn.
He and Kevin Durant have shared the court in 8 contests this season, going 5-3 while trading off dominant offensive performances.
Irving has been on a roll as of late, averaging 38.7 points and 5.7 assists on .580/.552/.889 splits over his last 6 games. He has a 50-point, 60-point, and 43-point game over that stretch, but lost the last game to the Ja Morant-less Grizzlies.
The Nets, 38-35, close the season with a 9-game stretch that includes home matchups with those Hornets, the Bucks, and the Cavaliers.
Brooklyn is attempting to overtake the Raptors for the No. 7 seed, which would give the Nets the home matchup in the play-in game.
