Zach Baun has shot up draft boards in recent weeks due to his career high 12.5 sacks in 2019 but his injury history deserves a look. The Wisconsin product had two foot surgeries in 2017 and the injury was presumed to be a Jones fracture causing him to miss the entire season. Baun sat out some of spring training in 2018, due to re-injuring the same foot but has done well since combining for 139 tackles the last two years. As an athlete you want to avoid a Derwin James type of re-fracture with a bent screw as well as a stress fracture in the opposite foot, see Julian Edelman. Teams will need to take a close look at the pass rush specialist which they were able to at the NFL combine.
