Lakers superstar LeBron James cleared the NBA's health and safety protocols after what has been reported as a "rigorous" set of testing that has turned up negative, according to reporting from The Athletic's Shams Charania and ESPN's Dave McMeniman. It appears that the initial positive test on Nov. 30 – and subsequent inconclusive tests – were false positives, and he has passed the requisite 2 negative PCR tests at least 24 hours apart to return to the Lakers.
James caught attention on Wednesday when he tweeted "Something REAL [five fish emojis] going on" after he was placed in the COVID-19 protocols. Los Angeles won the 1 game he missed Tuesday night in Sacramento, his 12th missed game of the season. He will lead the 12-11 Lakers against their roommates, the Clippers, in the first Battle for LA of the 2021-22 season.
