NFL

Worry about the linebacker’ neck has heightened. The owner talked about a a situation that should not be long-term and head coach Jason Garrett had addressed it as not career threatening but will keep him out into December. Vander Esch has neck injury history, and it was a big topic around his draft and he normally wears a neck collar. A disc bulge in and of itself is not that unusual in an NFL player but the words disc herniation are used here. One can play through without issues unless the nerve is affected. We don't have final word on this yet, but it seems likely that Vander Esch will miss some time and given his past neck history there is reason to worry. The worst case scenario is the need for disc surgery and fusion which would end his current season he could return full go next season.
