Logan Thomas Faces Long Recovery After Latest MRI Results

Washington tight end Logan Thomas does in fact have a torn ACL in the left knee he injured Week 13. His season was already effectively over when Washington placed him on IR for the second time this season.

Initially by video, Dr. David Chao, ProFootballDoc, did not see enough to confirm a torn ACL. He thought it was more of a bone bruise/hyperextension injury.

Early reports, including from head coach Ron Rivera, indicated there were positive MRI results that did not confirm an ACL tear.

Now, a week later, the team reports he does indeed have a torn ACL. Chao said this certainly is an unusual circumstance given the reliability of hands-on examination and MRI.

In any case, his season is over, and he will now have a more prolonged rehab with the ACL injury and surgery. Thomas finishes the year with 18 catches for 196 yards and 3 touchdowns in 6 games.

Ricky Seals-Jones has assumed the starting tight end role for Washington and had one catch for 8 yards in the loss to the Cowboys last Sunday.
