Los Angeles Chargers VS. Denver Broncos: Which Team Has Health Edge?

Injury Advantage: Chargers Rushing Offense

The Chargers face a Broncos defense that is without its entire starting core of linebackers. Josey Jewell and Alexander Johnson are out for the season and Bradley Chubb and Stephen Weatherly were added to the COVID reserve list Friday.

Defensive tackle and key run stopper Mike Purcell was also added to the COVID reserve list this week and will miss the game.

Defensive end Dre’Mont Jones and strong safety Kareem Jackson are also questionable to play.

Los Angeles will have Austin Ekeler back after he missed last week on the COVID list. Backup running back Justin Jackson stepped in nicely and could be in line for some rushing attempts, but expect a big game from Ekeler on the ground and catching passes out of the backfield.

Secondary Advantage: Chargers Passing Defense

Drew Lock gets a second straight start at quarterback with Teddy Bridgewater recovering from his second concussion of the season.

Lock was 15 for 22 for 153 yards against the Raiders last week and now faces a Chargers team with key pass rusher Joey Bosa back off the COVID reserve list.

Bosa has 9.5 sacks this season and should wreak havoc in the backfield against the Broncos.

Denver will also be without wide receivers Jerry Jeudy and Tim Patrick due to COVID, while Courtland Sutton missed practice Friday with an illness.
