Luka Doncic Suffers Left Calf Strain In Mavericks Season Finale

Luka Doncic's regular season ended early on Sunday as he hobbled off the floor with 2:24 left in the third quarter after suffering an apparent left leg injury.

Doncic was ruled out for the rest of the game with a left calf strain. While there reportedly is optimism that the injury isn't significant, calf strains linger.

The untimely injury creates doubt whether Doncic, 23, will be available for the No. 4 seed Mavericks when they begin the playoffs on April 16 or 17 against the Jazz.

The ProBasketballDocs believe Doncic can try to play through the injury, but it will limit his effectiveness. He carries a Sports Injury Central health score of 71.

The 23-year-old banged knees with Zach Collins while throwing a jump-pass and appeared to suffer the calf strain while he was taking off to re-locate on offense.

Doncic picked up his 16th technical foul Friday night against the Trailblazers. That would have kept Doncic out of Sunday's game, but the technical was rescinded upon review by the league office.

Doncic has missed 17 games this season, but only 3 since Jan. 1, despite suffering several bumps-and-bruises along the way.

He had scored 26 points with 8 rebounds and 9 assists before the injury, continuing his dominant stretch that has led Dallas to a 34-12 record since Jan. 1.
