The Mariners activated first baseman Ty France from the 10-day IL ahead of Thursday's game against the Blue Jays.
Ty France Injury Update
The 27-year-old is returning after 14 days as the DH and told the Seattle Times that he is looking to re-acclimate to hitting before re-claiming his position at first base.
France suffered a left flexor strain on June 23 when Sheldon Neuse ran through his glove at first and hyperextended France's elbow.
Initial concern from the ProBaseball Docs – and from France himself – was for a UCL tear or other significant injury similar to Max Muncy's in 2021 but France came away with only a mild forearm strain.
France is batting .319 this season with an .873 OPS, 10 home runs, 14 doubles, and 45 RBI in 273 at-bats and is currently second among AL first baseman in all-star votes.
Seattle has won 12 of its last 15 and were 9-3 without France, moving to 41-42 and four games back of Toronto for the third and final AL Wild Card spot.
