The Baltimore Ravens star tight end collapsed at practice due to what has been reported as cramps. Anytime a player collapses in the heat, there is immediate worry especially when the player is a Type 1 diabetic. At this point, the analysis is there is no worry and should be fine going forward. The diabetes probably has little to do with the cramping as this can happen when one is dehydrated from the heat, however this is not heat stroke. The fact that ambulances came as a precaution was a good thing, but Andrews was not hospitalized. It is not uncommon to have total body cramps when one is dehydrated from the heat. It is scary to see a player collapse but there's usually little long term consequences. Professional sports teams routinely have IV, hydration available at the facility. Given the 20th anniversary of Korey Stringer, everyone is rightfully worried and on edge but this case is different. Total body cramps can be scary and painful, but recover quickly, and we would expect Andrews back in practice very soon. This was a scare rather than a worry as we have full confidence Andrews will be 100% as the day progresses.
