Dallas Mavericks vs. L.A. Lakers: Anthony Davis Absence Looms Large

Check out this matchup's Court View here:

Two of the top players in the NBA will battle it out in a late night primetime matchup that has one team holding a large health advantage. Luka Doncic and LeBron James are relatively healthy going in but the continued looming absence of C Anthony Davis gives the Mavericks an edge over the Lakers going into Los Angeles.

Lakers SIC Health Score 76.2

The Lakers have dealt with injuries to both stars all season plunging them to 9th in the standings. James has toughed out his knee issue playing 34 or more minutes in 9 of the last ten games.

Anthony Davis has endured another injury riddled campaign, this time a mid-foot sprain is the cause for his absence. The Lakers have struggled to score without their star center and without him the Lakers have no secondary scoring option leaving James to shoulder the majority of the Lakers offensive load.

In recent games, free agent disappointment Russell Westbrook (FD $6,600) has averaged well over 17 points a game making him an intriguing option as he could exploit the offensive black hole left by Davis.

Another scoring option that could exploit the  Davis absence is veteran forward Carmelo Anthony (FD $4,800). Anthony has recently returned from a hamstring injury and will likely see his minutes increase. The Syracuse alum has shot 39% from three this season.

SG Austin Reaves is listed as probable as he nurses a right ankle sprain.

Mavericks SIC Health Score 86.9

Dallas goes into their first matchup in March on a high after a fantastic 107-101 road win over the Golden State Warriors. They remain on the road for the 5th straight game before heading home to face the Warriors.

Sharpshooter Tim Hardaway will miss the rest of season due to a fractured foot but this remains the only significant injury concern for the Mavericks.

The addition of Spencer Dinwiddie (FD $5,500) has softened the blow of losing Hardaway by contributing in the scoring department averaging 14 points per game since joining ship.

The Mavericks clean bill of health gives them the health advantage tonight and a 10.9 differential in their health score provides betting value across the board:

Spencer Dinwiddie O 11.5 Points
