Matchup Preview: Healthy Minnesota Timberwolves Take on Depleted Cleveland Cavaliers

Despite sitting in fourth place in the Eastern Conference, the Cleveland Cavaliers have dealt with numerous injuries at the guard position this season.

For Monday night's matchup against the Timberwolves, five of Cleveland's top 7 guards will miss the contest due to injury.

Injury Advantage: Timberwolves

Colin Sexton and Ricky Rubio are done for the year with knee injuries and the Cavaliers have dealt with recent injuries to Rajon Rondo and Caris LeVert.

Rondo and LeVert should return in the next week or two, but those injuries leave them severely thin on the bench.

Darius Garland has managed a back issue for a good stretch of the season, but is out Monday night.

That leaves Brandon Goodwin, Cedi Osman, Isaac Okoro and Lamar Stevens as the only options in the backcourt.

The Cavaliers have the lowest team health score in the league right now at 68.7.

Meanwhile, the Timberwolves have their starting lineup and bench completely intact.

Backup shooting guard Malik Beasley is dealing with a non-COVID illness, but is listed as probable for the game.

Minnesota carries a team health score of 89.1 and are one of the healthiest teams in the league at the moment.

The Cavaliers have allowed the least points to opponents in the league this season, but the heavy injuries at the guard spot leave them vulnerable to a potential scoring flurry from D'Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards.

Minnesota ranks 22nd in points allowed this season, but shouldn't have much trouble limiting Cleveland's offense Monday night.

The Timberwolves are favored by 3 points at home and the over/under is set at 218.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
