Matt Ryan Battling Through Turf Toe Injury, Reluctant to Push Off Back Foot For Throws

Matt Ryan, the Falcons veteran quarterback, injured his right foot/toe in the second quarter of the Thursday night game against New England, but has remained in the game. By video, he suffered the injury on a sack from linebacker Kyle Van Noy and immediately grabbed for his foot. He has clearly been hampered by the back foot and has been reluctant to push off for any throws. Ryan is likely dealing with a turf toe injury, which will linger throughout the game and possibly into next week. By the end of the third quarter, he had completed 15 passes on 22 attempts. We would not be surprised to see Josh Rosen finish the game, especially if the score is out of hand.

Update

Rosen replaced Ryan with two minutes left in the game and promptly threw a pick six. We think Ryan will be ready for Week 11, but he might still have trouble pushing off his back foot.
