At this point, I do not think Stafford goes on injured reserve. Unless the Lions continue to lose games. Remember, my original thought was Stafford had a transverse process fracture, which is a painful injury, but players can play/practice through it. Based on that, I thought he would play by Thanksgiving. However, new reports are coming out. Now it appears to be his upper back, and he will be out for six weeks. First of all, isolated transverse process fractures do not happen in the upper back. Even if they are “tiny fractures,” there is some structure significance once it’s the upper back. Another report said the team doctors never cleared Stafford to play last week. That was a big difference in my original understanding, I thought it was his option to play. In addition, he did not practice last week. So, once they found the injury nearly two weeks ago, he hasn’t been able to practice. He is as tough as they come, and I think he will try and play earlier than the six weeks timeline.
