Matt Stafford Officially Diagnosed With UCL Tear In Thumb

It appeared that quarterback Matthew Stafford sprained his ulnar collateral ligament in his thumb as we posted in-game but was able to tape it up and play through. Now reports are saying Stafford has a partial tear to the ligament in his throwing hand thumb. This indeed is a sprain of the ulnar collateral ligament and remember, a sprain is a tear, usually partial. This is the same ligament Drew Brees had a complete tear in or high grade sprain in which he needed surgery and missed six weeks in 2019. Given the low grade sprain/partial tear, we expect Matthew Stafford to be able to play with tape on his hand in favor of Chase Daniels as the Lions face the Panthers Week 11 .
