Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford suffered a right thumb injury just before halftime against the Cowboys, but was able to return in the second half.
By video, Stafford had his thumb trapped in a defenders helmet on a 2-point attempt and the injury mechanism is consistent with a UCL injury.
Stafford underwent surgery to repair the UCL in his right thumb after the 2020 season prior to his first season with the Rams. Given that previous surgery, Stafford likely didn't suffer much new damage.
His ability to grip the ball will determine whether he's able to return and complete the second half.
Surgery is a possibility if his UCL is fully torn. If that's the case he would miss at least 6 weeks, similar to Drew Brees in 2019.
