The Grizzlies - will attempt to continue their stellar 14-2 record without Ja Morant when they take on the Nets Wednesday night sans their superstar.
Morant will miss his 2nd straight game with right knee soreness that began developing late in a 120-105 loss to the Hawks on March 18. Guard John Konchar joins Morant on the injury report with knee soreness of his own.
Tyus Jones will start in his place, while Desmond Bane, De’Anthony Melton, and Ziaire Williams will see a bump in scoring. The quartet combined for 67 points against the Rockets on Sunday, with Bane and Jones each adding 7 assists and Melton grabbing 7 rebounds.
Defensive dynamo Jaren Jackson Jr. is averaging 21.1 points per game in his career without Morant.
Memphis will likely need one of Jackson, Bane, or another to have a near-career day to keep up with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.
The Nets - will get both Durant and Irving for the 8th time this season, and one of the final 4 times over the last stretch of the season.
Irving scored 60 points on 31 shots the last time he played, and has scored 38 points 3 times in his last 5 games. Durant has scored 37 points himself in 3 of the last 5, including a 53-point performance against the Knicks on March 13.
Seth Curry is questionable with a lingering ankle injury that kept him out of the 2nd half of the Nets’ win over the Jazz on Monday. Andre Drummond missed Monday’s game with an illness, but is expected to play. He is averaging 14.3 points and 10.5 rebounds over the last 6 games.
Potential Plays :
Tyus Jones O13.5 Points - The former Duke PG will start in place of Morant, expect solid production from one of the best back up PGs in the NBA
Kyrie Irving O26.5 Points - Irving will suit up due to it being an away game, expect a fresh Irving tonight and should continue his torrid offensive streak
