New Orleans Pelicans vs. Memphis Grizzlies: Who Has Health Edge?

You can see our full court view here.

The Grizzlies - SIC score 91.1 are suddenly jousting for the No. 2 seed in the West as they face the Pelicans in Memphis on Tuesday afternoon.

After a dominant 2 months, the 44-22 Grizzlies are 3-3 since the all-star break, and just lost to the Rockets after blowing a double-digit lead.

They are still one of the healthiest teams in the NBA, which has led to their meteoric rise this season.

Their only entry on the injury report is starting small forward and defensive heartbeat Dillon Brooks, who has missed the last 25 games since suffering a severe sprained ankle on Jan. 8.

Brooks has only played in 21 games this season because of hand and ankle problems and a bout with COVID-19, and Memphis is 29-14 without the 26-year-old instigator.

Rookie Ziaire Williams, 28-year-old Kyle Anderson and 2018 2nd-round pick De’Anthony Melton each fill in for Brooks in the aggregate, filling out a deep wing unit that flanks young stars Ja Morant and Jaren Jackson Jr.

The Pelicans - SIC score 78.9 are fighting for their own play-in spot, posting a 9-5 record since Feb. 1 pushing them to the No. 10 seed in the West.

Along with Zion Williamson, New Orleans is awaiting news on the availability of star wing Brandon Ingram, who is listed as questionable with a sore right hamstring after a 38-point, 9-assist performance in an overtime loss to the Nuggets on Sunday night.

Veteran scorer CJ McCollum has already indebted himself to the Pelicans, averaging 26.1 points and 6.1 assists on .518/.403/.750 shooting splits since being traded to the up-and-coming team.

If Ingram does sit, Garrett Temple will see a bump in minutes and start alongside McCollum, rookie Herbert Jones, Jaxson Hayes, and Jonas Valanciunas.

Potential Plays:

Grizzlies -6.5 - The Grizzlies are by far the healthier squad, if Ingram can't go Memphis will hold an even bigger health advantage

CJ McCollum O24.5 - McCollum has done well since coming over from Portland, this will seem like an even smaller number if Ingram is ruled out or minutes are reduced
