New York Mets starting pitcher Taijuan Walker joined Jacob deGrom on the 10-day IL after leaving Monday's start with shoulder irritation.
Walker was reportedly diagnosed with shoulder bursitis, or swelling of the fluid-like sac that reduced friction between tissues in the body.
The 29-year-old had completed two innings on 30 pitches before he was removed for David Peterson.
Walker tweeted Tuesday morning, “Everything is all good.”
That should lead to optimism for Mets fan and it's likely that Walker is yet another casualty of the accelerated spring training.
deGrom is also dealing with a shoulder injury, but his is more severe. The 33-year-old dealing with a stress reaction in his scapula and will not throw for at least another two weeks.
Joey Lucchesi, another Mets starter, underwent Tommy John surgery last June and isn't expected back until late in the season.
New addition Max Scherzer is on the mound for New York Wednesday against the Phillies. The Mets are 1.5-run favorites and the over/under 8.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook.
