Michael Pittman Injury Update: Will Quad Ailment Keep Pittman Out?

Michael Pittman is on track to be one of the top receivers in the NFL. But a quad injury kept him out of a week two matchup against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Colts lost because they didn’t have their superstar wide receiver to take coverage away. Pittman was limited in practice Wednesday and will likely suit up against the Kansas City Chiefs this week.

According to Pro Football Docs, There is some concern about Pittman’s ability to accelerate off the line given his quad injury. As of Wednesday, his SIC score is 86.

This could be a slight disadvantage for the team against the blazing hot Chiefs.

Before the quad injury, Pittman amassed nine catches for 121 yards and one touchdown. He dominated all Houston Texans corners, including rookie Derek Stingley Jr. Last season Pittman had 1,082 yards and six receiving touchdowns while averaging 12.3 yards per catch.

Parris Campbell and Alec Pierce will have a significant role as Pittman recovers from injury. Pierce was out last week with a concussion and has not passed the NFL concussion protocol.

However, he practiced today is an encouraging sign that he might be ready to go by gameday. Campbell had zero catches in the team’s blowout loss. Look for him to have a bounce-back game this week.
