Wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. did not practice on Thursday or Friday after being limited with a quad injury to open the Colts' path to Week 2.
His sudden regression from limited to DNP signals that Pittman may miss Sunday's divisional bout with the Jaguars, according to the Pro Football Docs. Pittman has been deemed questionable ahead of the Sunday matchup.
Michael Pittman Jr. Injury Update
According to the Pro Football Docs, the 24-year-old likely picked up the injury sometime during Wednesday's practice, and the team will lean on the side of caution early in the season.
Pittman Jr. played in 98% of the Colts' snaps during their 20-20 tie with the Texans and led all receivers with nine receptions, 13 targets, and 121 yards with a game-tying 15-yard touchdown with 1:54 left.
There is no evidence or reporting that he was dealing with any clear injury after the season opener.
While Pittman Jr. is a third-year starter and the clear No. 1, Thursday's absence was listed as due to his quad and not vet rest.
The best-case scenario, according to the Docs, is that Pittman Jr. is dealing with a quad bruise and that he will be able to in a limited role on the offense.
Head coach Frank Reich is expected to update Pittman Jr.'s status for Sunday during Friday afternoon's press conference.
If he doesn't play, rookie Alec Pierce and versatile wideout Parris Campbell are in line to step into more targets, and the duo of Jonathan Taylor and Nyheim Hines will have another major role against the young Jaguars' defensive front.
