Mike Trout will play for the first time tonight since he was hit by a slider in the left hand last Sunday. The three-time MVP will bat second behind Shohei Ohtani and play in center field for the 8-5 Angels against the Orioles.
Trout left Sunday's win over the Rangers after he was hit by a pitch in the fifth inning and x-rays on the hand were negative. Joe Maddon was hopeful Trout would return as soon as Tuesday but the swelling had yet to subside and he sat for two more contests.
The 30-year-old has two home runs, three RBI, and eight runs on a .267 average and .972 OPS in nine games this season.
The Angels will play a three-game series against the Orioles before they face the Guardians for a four-game set.
