Angels superstar center fielder Mike Trout exited Sunday's ballgame in the 5th inning after he was hit by a pitch on the left hand.
Fortunately for Trout and Los Angeles, the X-rays were reportedly negative and he's considered “day-to-day.”
Speaking after the game, manager Joe Madden told reporters Trout will “more than likely” sit for Monday's game against the Astros.
The three-time MVP was injured when he was hit by an 81 mph slider that didn't break. He attempted to move out of the way, but the pitch hit him directly on the left hand while he was holding the bat.
Trainers came out to check on him, then he exited the game. Brandon Marsh entered for him. The Angels won the game 8-3 over the Texas Rangers.
The eight-time Silver Slugger has opened the year hitting .267 with 2 homeruns, 7 runs scored and 2 RBIs. He also has a .382 on-base percentage in 8 games so far.
Trout missed 126 games last season with a calf injury.
