Mike Trout Out Monday vs Astros With Left Hand Contusion

Superstar center fielder Mike Trout is out of the starting lineup for Monday's matchup against the Houston Astros, a day after he was hit by a pitch on the left hand.

The X-rays were negative Sunday and Monday, meaning Trout is dealing with a left hand contusion and is reportedly considered “day-to-day.”

Brandon Marsh (FD $2,600) will play center and bat fifth against the Astros, with Joe Adell ($2,500) in left and Taylor Ward ($2,400) in right field.

Trout told reporters Monday that his hand is feeling better and he plans to wear a pad to protect it.

The 30-year-old was hit on the left hand in the 5th inning of Sunday's game when he attempted to dodge an 81 mph slider.

Trout was immediately pulled from the game to undergo testing and manager Joe Maddon said after the game that the move was precautionary on his part.

While it remains unclear when Trout will return to the lineup, the ProBaseballDocs do not expect a long-term absence for the three-time MVP.

The Astros are 1.5-run favorites behind Luis Garcia and the over/under is 8.5, according to FanDuel Sportsbook. Michael Lorenzen will take the mound for the Angels.
