Minnesota Vikings vs. Pittsburgh Steelers: Which Team Has The Health Edge?

Injury Advantage: Steelers Passing Offense

Minnesota got defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson back from the COVID reserve list last week, but they are still down star pass rushers Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter. The Steelers have injury issues at left guard, but both starting tackles are healthy.

Although Ben Roethlisberger is down key receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, he should have plenty of time in the pocket to connect with Diontae Johnson, Chase Claypool and tight end Pat Freiermuth.

Look for Najee Harris to be well involved in the passing game too. The rookie has 57 catches through 12 games, which is second most among running backs this season.

Secondary Advantage: Vikings Run Offense

Although the Vikings will likely be without Dalvin Cook for a second straight game, they have a SIC health score advantage on the ground against the Steelers’ injury-addled defensive line. Nose tackle Tyson Alualu and left defensive end Stephon Tuitt are both out for the season, leaving Isaiah Buggs and Chris Wormley to fill in. Buggs missed last game with an ankle injury and hasn’t practiced yet this week.

Left tackle Christian Darrisaw is out with an ankle injury, but the rest of the Vikings offensive line is healthy and should be able to open gaps for Alexander Mattison. In three starts this season, Mattison is averaging 24.3 rushes for 105 yards.
