MVP Favorite Joel Embiid Continues To Wrestle Nagging Wrist Injury

76ers' superstar and leading MVP candidate Joel Embiid had to leave tonight's game late in the 1st quarter to receive treatment on his nagging right wrist injury.

Embiid, who told reporters last Friday that he had woken up to a sore and swollen wrist days before, was caught by TNT cameras walking to the locker room a little over 30 seconds into the 2nd quarter of the 76ers' game against the Bucks.

Luckily there is no evidence that suggests a fracture or serious ligament damage in his wrist, meaning this injury will require a management regimen as opposed to a surgical response, our team of ProBasketballDocs say.

Embiid returned to the game and led the 76ers to a comeback victory in Milwaukee, scoring 42 points with 14 rebounds anbd 5 assists on 14-21 shooting , besting Giannis Antetokounmpo and the defending champion Bucks.

The 27-year-old appeared to suffer the initial injury on Dec. 1 against the Celtics. Enes Freedom welted his wrist on a layup attempt, and Embiid held and shook his right wrist and arm immediately after the impact.

The injury re-emerged into the fold last week when Embiid said during media availability that he woke up with a swollen wrist but did not know the source of the pain. He has since been playing with either an arm sleeve or wrist tape.

The injury has not severely impacted Embiid's play: coming into tonight, he is averaging 32 points, 11.2 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.4 blocks and 1.1 steals on .515/.344/.832 shooting splits in the 33 games since that Dec. 1 injury.

The 7-foot, 280-pound former No. 3 overall pick is the current MVP favorite on FanDuel Sportsbook at +165.

The 4 next closest betting favorites are Nikola Jokic at +300, Giannis Antetokounmpo at +360, Stephen Curry at +1200, and Ja Morant at +1500.
