Pacers center – and potential future subject of a Woj bomb – Myles Turner will be out at least 2 weeks after being diagnosed with a stress reaction in his left foot.
The 25-year-old was expected to be one of the notable players on the move at the trade deadline, but this injury is highly unlikely to resolve by Feb. 10, and can develop into a serious issue, according to our team of ProBasketballDocs.
The stress reaction is 1 level before a stress fracture, and when that fracture takes place in the foot, it can be a career-altering injury for big men.
Zion Williamson has been dealing with a stress fracture in his 5th metatarsal since August and is still seemingly a ways away from returning to the court.
The stress reaction, thankfully, is not certain to turn into a fracture, and can be treated without surgery. Even the best-case scenario, however represents a month off for Turner, and a potential ding in his trade value and ability to contribute right away for a contender.
The 6'11" NBA blocks leader will now have 2 damaged feet, as he missed 22 of 23 games in the 2020-21 season with a plantar plate tear in his right big toe. (This is not directly related to plantar fasciitis, plantar refers to anything involving the sole of the foot).
Turner had played in 42 of the Pacers' 43 games before the injury and is averaging 12.9 points with 7.1 rebounds and 2.8 blocks on 50.9% from the field and 33.3% from 3.
