Drew Brees - QB

The Saints quarterback missed six weeks last season after undergoing thumb surgery, as he tore the ulnar collateral ligament to his thumb on the throwing hand (right) by jamming it into Aaron Donald's hand. As expected, he recovered fully and should return to full form. There are no long term issues with his grip for 2020, but long term at his age is a relative thing. The bigger potential worry is the fact that he’s 41 years old and arm strength has never been his biggest asset before or after the well-publicized shoulder injury/surgery in 2005. His accuracy and touch have remained elite however, as he finished last year with 2,979 yards, a glowing 74.1% completion rate, 27 touchdowns , and just four picks in 11 starts.

Alvin Kamara - RB

Alvin Kamara had a less than superstar season as he was limited by injury, but still made the Pro Bowl in 2019. He wasn’t his usual self, especially in the potent New Orleans Saints pass game. In each of his three seasons in the NFL, he’s caught 81 passes, yet his production dropped from 826 yards and five touchdowns in is rookie year to 709 yards and four touchdowns in his sophomore campaign to 533 yards and one score last year. His rushing ability remained, however as he put up 797 yards and five touchdowns on the ground at 4.7 yards per carry. On social media, he said he was on "one leg and at 75%" last year. Indeed he had a high ankle sprain and apparently a mild PCL sprain. He missed 2 games but there was a bye week included as well meaning his absence extended almost a month. Kamara claims to be 100% now and we have no reason not to believe him.

Emmanuel Sanders - WR

Emmanual Sanders recovered from Achilles and ankle surgeries to play a full 20 game season with the Broncos and then 49ers in their Super Bowl run. Sanders proved my 2019 doubts wrong and now looks to be productive in 2020 with Drew Brees and the Saints. The new signing is a top-tier receiver behind Michael Thomas, and totalled 66 receptions for 869 yards and five touchdowns last year.
