NFL Announces Deal To Help Increase Marketability of Guardian Caps, Reduce Concussions in Training Camp

During training camp ahead of the upcoming football season the NFL has mandated the use of Guardian Caps, in an attempt to reduce unnecessary head injuries.

Tight ends, linebackers, plus offensive and defensive linemen will be required to wear the caps for every preseason practice between the start of the training camp contact period and the second preseason game.

The soft-shell pads attached to the outside of helmets are meant to reduce the friction and force involved in head-to-head collisions.

Today, the NFL announced a deal with Pillow Pets, the maker of the popular plush toys that double as a pillow, to adorn the Guardian Caps.

Pillow Pets reportedly outbid Mattress Firm and Michelin for the opportunity.

The fun flair on the caps will come in a variety of designs, including the popular lady bug and bumble bee designs. Check out the latest designs here.

Other optional features include scented Pillow Pets, with the three options as “grass,” “musk” or “strawberries.”

(While the NFL is absolutely moving ahead with the Guardian Caps, sadly Pillow Pets will not be featured on helmets during training camp. Happy April Fools Day, feel free to check out the Pillow Pets array of products here.)
