David Johnson had his worst statistical season with the Texans last year after he was traded for a package including DeAndre Hopkins in March 2020.
Now at 30 years old Johnson hits free agency and is likely to join the third team of his career.
While he doesn't have any overall health concerns, he has missed at least three games in each of the last three seasons.
Since 2017, he's had injuries to his left wrist, left knee, quad and ankle.
None of those are particularly concerning, but the culmination and his age likely adds up to a spot role for the seven-year pro.
He's approaching 1,000 career carries, but also has value as a pass-catching back. He's had at least 30 catches in every season except 2017, when he played just one game while dealing with left wrist and left knee injuries.
His last contract was a three-year, $39 million extension with the Cardinals that followed him to the Texans.
Johnson joins free agent running backs James Conner, Leonard Fournette, Raheem Mostert, Rashaad Penny in seeking new contracts.
