Week 5 of the 2024 NFL season brings an exciting Monday Night Football showdown between two franchises with different paths this year: the New Orleans Saints and the Kansas City Chiefs.
The Chiefs, led by MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes, are riding high with an undefeated 4-0 record, while the Saints, sitting at 2-2, have had flashes of brilliance but struggled to find consistency.
For New Orleans, this is a crucial opportunity to reset their season with a statement win. Kansas City, however, aims to keep their perfect streak alive heading into their bye week.
With star talent on both sides of the ball and playoff implications already looming, this matchup promises fireworks under the bright lights of primetime.
Taysom Hill TE
Has been ruled out of MNF against the Chiefs while dealing with fractured ribs sustained last week, he wasn't able to practice all week so the designation doesn't come as a surprise and his snaps will likely split between Foster Moreau and Juwan Johnson.
Erik McCoy OL
Sustained a groin injury in Sunday's game vs the Eagles, it will require surgery and he will miss 6-8 weeks while recovering from the procedure
Patrick did not practice on Saturday heading into Week 5 versus the Chiefs.
Cesar Ruiz G
Will miss a second straight game due to a knee injury.
Pete Werner LB
Ruled out heading into Week 5 versus the Chiefs.
Willie Gay Jr. LB
Has been ruled out of the MNF contest against the Chiefs with an injured hand that he sustained in last week's game, he failed to log a practice all week, the availability of Demario Davis this week means he will likely slide into Gay's spot on the defense.
Rashee Rice WR
Underwent an MRI last week, yet the exact nature of the extent of the injury is unknown at this time, all signs point to a serious injury, but he will continue to undergo testing and a more definitive status will be known this week.
Reported as a fractured fibula suffered Week 2, fibula is outer part of ankle which is why at first ankle reported during game, good news is likely not displaced fracture and although surgery not always done it may be in this case to speed up recovery time, likely longer than 4 game IR stint but expect him to return this season.
Mike Danna DE
A FP in Saturday's practice and does not have an injury designation for Week 5.
With the health advantages to the Chiefs, in particular the depleted Saints linebackers, plus the injuries to other key offensive stars, we see Travis Kelce building on his return to form last week and being a popular target for Mahomes.
