The Chicago Bears are set to face the Washington Commanders in a highly anticipated Week 8 NFL showdown, with both teams aiming to assert dominance at a crucial point in the season.
Following a bye week, the Bears return well-rested and ready to make adjustments, while the Commanders look to leverage their home-field advantage.
This matchup serves as a pivotal test for both teams as we approach the halfway mark of the regular season. Whether it's the Bears' efforts to revamp their offense under Caleb Williams or the Commanders’ bid to fortify their defense, the game is expected to be a tightly contested battle that may shape each team's playoff potential.
In this article, we’ll break down the most impactful injuries and how they will affect the game.
Offensively the Bears have no injuries of note, making them the healthiest offense in the league with an SIC Health Score of 94.1.
Defensively there are health concerns in the secondary with 2/3 starting cornerbacks hampered by injury including Tyrique Stevenson who is nursing a calf injury and was an LP on Thursday. CB Kyler Gordon did not practice on Thursday heading into Week 8 versus the Commanders.
Safety Jaquan Brisker has chance to return this week after missing London game due to concussion symptoms, however was a DNP on Thursday.
The Commanders will likely be without their star rookie QB Jayden Daniels this week due to a rib injury.
Jayden Daniels - SIC Health Score 47
For a multitude of reasons, we don't expect Jayden Daniels to be available to play for Week 8, his rib cartilage injury can be extremely painful due to the mechanics of the injury, if he won't be effective, that could leave him susceptible to other injuries, he's a promising rookie but a week without practice isn't feasible, a matchup vs Caleb Williams isn't much of a concern to the Commanders, and Marcus Mariota is a capable quarterback against a non-divisional opponent, Daniels may miss time beyond this week as well.
Starting LT Brandon Coleman is in concussion protocol and will not play on Sunday.
Centre Tyler Biadasz and Guard Nick Allegretti were limited in practice on Thursday heading into Week 8 but will play Sunday.
The Commanders Defensive Line has health issues with Jonthan Allen out for the season due to a pec tear.
DE Dorance Armstrong logged a LP on Friday and is Questionable to play.
D'Andre Swift Over 59.5 Rushing Yards
