Nick Bosa Faces Shorter Timeline For Concussion Protocol Clearance

Nick Bosa, the 49ers star edge rusher, left the game with a concussion on Sunday and must clear concussion protocol to play this Saturday against Green Bay.

Typically during the regular season, it is about a 50/50 chance for a player to be cleared in one week's time and not miss the next contest.

He will need to get cleared by the independent neuro specialist in order to play in the game.

In order for this to happen, there needs to be a progression through practice. Thus it will be important to see if he can go from limited to a full practice this week.

There is definitely a clear disadvantage to Bosa and the 49ers given only six days as opposed to seven, but that does not mean he will not be cleared.

At this point, it's 50/50 statistically, but one can never judge concussions or severity by video. It is a matter of how long symptoms last and if they progress.

The hope is that we hear Monday or Tuesday that Bosa of feels normal and does not feel any symptoms. That would be the first signpost on his way to recovery and return to play against the Packers.
