Nick Mullens suffered a significant elbow injury and will not play this coming week. However, the injury is much more severe than initially believed. There seems to be involvement of the ulnar collateral ligament or Tommy John ligament meaning surgery is a likelihood. This is one of the main reasons we felt the line would move in the San Francisco versus Arizona game and it indeed has. The good news is that Tommy John surgery recovery is shorter in a football player than in a baseball pitcher for various reasons, but it is still a very tight timeline to be ready for next season and we would expect Mullins to not be ready for the 2021 season. Ben Roethlisberger had a similar type of surgery, but much earlier along in the 2019 season and has done well since returning this season. It would seem that Mullens would at start the 2021 season on the Physically Unable To Perform list.
