Reports have surfaced that Cardinals star wideout DeAndre Hopkins could play in the NFC championship game or the Super Bowl, if the Cardinals make it that far.
Upon the initial news of his need for isolated MCL surgery, it was reported he could return in as little as six weeks.
It is still the opinion of ProFootballDoc, Dr. David Chao, that six weeks is a rather optimistic timeline. Typically, an isolated MCL surgery carries closer to a three month recovery.
While it is possible for Hopkins to return for the NFC championship game, set for Jan. 30, he wouldn't be anywhere close to 100% on his surgically repaired right knee.
The Super Bowl, Feb. 13, is also a stretch as it would be just two months since Hopkins suffered the injury.
The MCL is key for a wide receivers ability to cut and run routes effectively. ProFootballDoc maintains that Hopkins' season is over, but he will be 100% healthy heading into training camp next year.
