Colts' running back Nyheim Hines was taken back to the locker room after showing outward signs of a concussion following a big hit in the first quarter and has been ruled out for the game.
The 25-year-old was struggling to walk upright and had to be held up, a clear sign of “gross motor instability” that has been a focus since Tua Tagovailoa's gruesome concussion and fencing response last Thursday.
Upon initial video, the Pro Football Docs expected Hines to be ruled out for the rest of the game.
The newly-negotiated – but not finalized – amendments to the concussion protocol include a portion about clear signs of “gross motor instability.”
The dynamic fifth-year running back started tonight in place of Jonathan Taylor who missed his first career game with an ankle sprain.
Hines was sandwiched between two Broncos' tacklers at the close of a five-yard reception on the third play of the night.
Deon Jackson and Phillip Lindsay will likely split running back duties the rest of the night.
