New York Knicks forward OG Anunoby will be out until at least early March after undergoing surgery to remove a loose bone fragment in his right elbow.
Anunoby last played Jan. 27 against the Heat, but had missed the last six contests before going under the knife.
The team had reportedly tried rest to see if his right elbow inflammation would go down, but ultimately surgery was the best route to get him healthy for the stretch run and postseason.
The former Raptor was acquired in December in a trade that sent RJ Barrett, Immanuel Quickley and a 2024 second-round pick to Toronto.
New York was active at Thursday’s trade deadline, acquiring Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks while sending away Quentin Grimes, Evan Fournier, Ryan Arcidiacono and Malachi Flynn along with two second-round picks.
In 14 games for the Knicks, Anunoby has averaged 15.6 points, 4.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.8 steals on 51.6/39.1/84.2 shooting splits.
New York (33-19) sits in fourth place in the Eastern Conference as of Friday.
