The Panthers placed star running back Christian McCaffrey on IR Saturday, meaning he will miss at least the team's next three games. Carolina doesn't have its bye until Week 13, thus McCaffrey will be eligible to return Week 9 against New England. The 25-year-old was vying to return this week, but suffered a setback in his recovery from the Week 3 hamstring strain. He was limited in practice Wednesday, then missed the next two practices.
Chuba Hubbard will get his third straight start this week and will be the main back until McCaffrey returns. Hubbard has 220 rushing yards and 78 receiving yards in five games this year.
