Sam Darnold, the Panthers quarterback, was limited in practice all week with a concussion and right shoulder injury. By video, he took a direct blow on the side of his right shoulder in the deltoid area on the same play he suffered a concussion. He has not officially cleared from the concussion protocol yet, but he still can be on Saturday after a full practice through the walkthrough. With the home game that's easy to accomplish.
At this point, it seems like even if he clears the concussion protocol, P.J. Walker will be the starter given the Temple connection routes with head coach Matt Rhule. Also, Darnold has not been in top form recently and will not have practiced at all this week. This gives the Panthers a chance to start a healthy PJ Walker without officially demoting Darnold.
