Patrick Mahomes Has Chance To Return For Matchup With Bills Next Sunday

Patrick Mahomes left the game with a concussion but his team was able to hold on. The question now is whether the QB be able to return for the conference championship when Kansas City hosts Buffalo. More often than not, a player ruled out with head injury misses the next week but that is not the absolute rule. Mahomes will have a full seven days to clear with the home game but the final call will be made by an independent neurologist. By video, Mahomes did not seem to get hit directly in the head but rather shoulder and landed on his chest. There was speculation of "getting choked" given the neck tackle and the way he appeared to “faint". Certainly concussions can happen without direct blows and the manifestation of symptoms is always unpredictable. If Mahomes has no symptoms tonight or tomorrow, he could clear by next Sunday. Given the indirect mechanism of concussion, we think there is a good chance Mahomes will clear if he has no symptoms post game. Head coach Andy Reid said " He's doing great right now, which is a real positive. We'll see where it goes from here."
