Chiefs' quarterback Patrick Mahomes II appeared to suffer a right high-ankle eversion sprain late in the first quarter and was ruled questionable to return.
Mahomes, SIC score 84, should be able to continue after treatment but will have significantly limited mobility for the rest of the Divisional Round game against the Jaguars, according to the Pro Football Docs.
After finishing the drive with a field goal, the 27-year-old appeared to throw his jacket in frustration on the sideline and jogged to the locker room with the Kansas City training staff.
Longtime backup Chad Henne replaced him to start the Chiefs' third drive with 9:59 left in the second quarter.
Before the injury, Mahomes was 10/12 for 77 yards and one touchdown and had one rush for five yards.
The current MVP favorite suffered a right knee dislocation mid-way through the 2019 season and missed two-and-a-half games, the longest he has missed due to injury in his career.
Mahomes II suffered a concussion in the 2020 playoffs and Henne shepherded the team to a win over the Browns.
