For the first time we have official word on Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs head athletic trainer spoke at a press conference today. The team continues to paint a picture of a “best case scenario.” However that scenario is still a patella dislocation, where by nature of the injury, there is tissue that is at least stretched if not torn. There is no surprise that it’s “a stretch for him to play this week.” The original thought is still about a one month absence for Mahomes. However, care is needed to avoid re-injury or the risk of further damage. It’s still our belief that surgery may ultimately be necessary for Mahomes.
