As expected the Chiefs quarterback did not play week 9 at 17 days from injury. He is likely to return for 10 vs titans at 24 days from patella dislocation which fits squarely in the middle of our original 3 to 4 weeks timeline for return. A report confirmed the risk of re dislocation as the main reason to wait for the week 10 return. However there will be risk for re-injury even when wearing a brace for the rest of the season which is why surgery is not off the table in my opinion. It would be hard to avoid re-injury and remember the initial dislocation happened with very little force on a quarterback sneak. Once a kneecap is dislocated it does tend to dislocate more easily. Assuming Mahomes can make it through without re-injury, I expect him to be fairly effective and he may even surprise people with how mobile he actually is. Let's just hope lightning doesn't strike twice and Mahomes can make it through the year without reinjury.
