Patrick Mahomes has been ruled out of Sunday's game versus the Packers. Excitement came this week with Mahomes engaged in three straight days of limited practice with plenty of footage. The film did not lie as he is not only less than 100% but there is still risk of redislocation. The risk will continue to be high until he is fully rehabilitated. Head coach Andy Reid said “he just wasn't ready". There is no way the Chiefs were going to put their superstar at risk. It certainly seems that the plan is for Mahomes to play before considering any offseason procedure for a long-term fix. At this point, it is far from guaranteed that Mahomes will play next week and it is easily possible they wait until after the week 12 bye. It is good to hear that Mahomes is in the best case scenario since suffering the patella dislocation, however this is still a significant injury. It is more than a matter of if can he play and be effective, but about calculating the risk of re-injury.
