Patrick Mahomes Takes Knee To Helmet, Helped Off Field

Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs star quarterback, took a knee to the helmet from Titans defensive end Jeffery Simmons and was helped off by teammates. By video, Mahomes had visual symptoms consistent with a concussion. We expect him to be evaluated for a concussion and not return today. The Chiefs were down 27-3 with under 8 minutes left when Mahomes left the game. Chad Henne will take over at quarterback and could be under center Monday night against the Giants.

Update

Mahomes briefly went in the blue injury tent, then remained on the sidelines and was seen talking to coaches. If the Chiefs were placing the star quarterback in the concussion protocol, a trip to the locker room would have been mandatory. After the game, head coach Andy Reid said Mahomes cleared concussion protocol.
