P.J. Williams Suffers Ankle Injury, Unlikely To Return

Saints free safety P.J. Williams suffered a left ankle injury in the second quarter against the Panthers and is unlikely to return.

By video, Williams had his left leg rolled up on during a tackle and he appeared to suffer a mild high ankle sprain. 

Williams was checked out in the medical tent and has remained on the sideline. We believe he's unlikely to return because the high ankle sprain can't be helped with tape.

He was starting at free safety in place of Marcus Williams, who is on the COVID reserve list.

Jeff Heath will likely fill in at free safety the rest of the game.

Update

Williams was deemed questionable to return with an ankle injury. We don't expect to see him in the game this week or next week.
